Discover the thrill of climbing

We are delighted to introduce you to the exciting world of climbing at Evesham Leisure Centre. We have been operating their purpose built 225 square metre indoor climbing wall since 2022 and are proud to offer:

1. Children's Indoor Just Climb Experiences

These fun sessions give children between 5-12 years the chance to test their balance and agility plus gain confidence climbing. Our sessions are run by a Mountain Training qualified climbing instructor and will include an introduction to a climbing harness, simple climbing techniques and the experience of being lowered after a climb. Find out more and book here.

Click on the find out more and book to check availability, dates and times.

If children would like to expand their skills, we offer a range of children’s climbing courses, see below.

2. Children's Climbing Courses

Children's NICAS Accredited Rock Climber & Starters Climbing Course (NICAS Levels 1 & 2)

These are our entry level sessions for children aged 8-15 years wanting to take the first steps into the sport of rock climbing. The sessions are NICAS Accredited.

They are a series of progressive coaching sessions (1.5 hours duration each) concentrating not only on the climbing, but instilling safety, by focussing on the whole of the climbing process of security, safety checks, communication and belaying following the NICAS Levels 1 & 2 syllabi. Sessions will focus on different aspects of the process, so some sessions will have more climbing taking place than others.

Children's Advanced Rock Climbers Climbing Course

These sessions are for children aged 8-15 years wanting to progress beyond NICAS Level 2 in the sport of rock climbing. These are a series of progressive coaching sessions (1.5 hours duration each) concentrating on climbing technique and movement following a syllabus created by one of our most experienced instructors. The aim is to develop the candidates into independent and motivated climbers.

3. Adults' Start Climbing Course

Our three week course is designed for adults who are looking to kick-start their climbing journey. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refresh your skills, our expert instructors will guide you every step of the way.

The object of the course is to train and then assess novice climbers as safe, independent top rope climbers and belayers who have gained the basic skills to climb, belay and use the auto belays without direct supervision. On passing the course assessment climbers will be invited to complete a Competent Climber's Registration Form which will allow them to take part in our recreational sessions without having to be signed in by a competent climber. Find out more and book here.

4. Recreational Climbing

We offer recreational climbing sessions for competent climbers and are very excited to have 52 new climbing routes on the wall.

These routes will challenge and encourage climbers from 3 - 6B on the French Climbing Grading Scale. Challenges range from technical balanced routes to routes where the challenge is more of a physical overhanging style.

The auto belays at Evesham Leisure Centre will be available after a short induction in addition to all the top roped lines.

5. Activity Group Sessions

We have instructor led climbing sessions available for groups of all abilities, climbing activities are available all year round. We can cater for parties and large groups. Climbing parties are the perfect way to celebrate! Please contact us for more information and availability.
